EOLT Systems

Multifunction Antennas

Multifunction antennas must operate reliably across many frequency bands despite interference.

To ensure that every antenna meets the required signal quality and functionality, the end-of-line tester (EOLT) checks the RF performance and relevant diagnostic functions with cycle times as short as approximately 30 seconds. In addition, a mechanical test ensures that the contacts, assembly, and workmanship consistently meet the specifications. Sensors check the connector and verify that the test item is properly mounted.
Challenges and Concept

Multifunction antennas in modern motor vehicles combine numerous communication and reception technologies into a single assembly. Consequently, the requirements for precise and reproducible end-of-line testing across different frequency ranges and signal types are correspondingly high.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQS

An EOL (End-of-Line) test system is a testing setup used in electronics manufacturing that is deployed directly at the end of the production line for the final quality inspection of electronic assemblies—in this case, vehicle antennas with different frequency interfaces. It combines electrical measurements, RF tests, and mechanical tests to ensure full functionality.
The test system covers a broad range of signal and function stimulation and evaluation. This includes precise current and voltage measurements as well as frequency testing, from low kHz ranges through to demanding RF applications. In addition, various communication and reception signals are tested, including conventional radio signals such as AM, FM and DAB, GNSS signals such as GPS and GLONASS, as well as satellite and mobile communication signals. The system also supports mechanical testing and comprehensive diagnostic functions to ensure the reliable operation of the assemblies.
Multifunction antennas are complex assemblies that must function reliably under real-world conditions (motion, interference, simultaneous use of multiple frequency bands). EOL testing ensures that signal quality, frequency response, and functionality are 100% verified before shipment.
The system utilizes specialized testing technologies such as RF-tight adaptation, pneumatic RF contacting, and a helical antenna specifically developed for this purpose to stimulate signals, as well as in-house software solutions such as TestMate and DataManager for evaluation and traceability.
In addition to multifunction antennas, the system can also be used with other RF and communications modules with minor modifications, such as transmitter and receiver modules, antenna amplifiers, telecommunications modules, or satellite receivers.
